Explore all the creative craic taking place in Munster for Cruinniú na nÓg on 23 June.

There are only days to go before the country comes alive with creative, youthful excitement for the first ever Cruinniú na nÓg!

On Saturday 23 June, every county, city, town and village will brim with performance, coding, theatre, art, music, readings, screenings, special events and more on this free, youth-friendly day of creativity.

Supported by RTÉ and Local Authorities nationwide, Cruinniú na nÓg celebrates and encourages children and young people to truly get hands on with culture and creativity in their local area.

If you live in Munster, here are just some of the free, local activities and events you can enjoy:

In the Banner County of Clare, Ennis will put its best foot forward with fun African dance workshops for families. While Kilkee will be breaking it all down with teen-focused rap workshops.

The Rebels will get creative in Cork City with a super street art festival on Grand Parade and a science picnic to savour with dynamic demos and exciting experiments. And, poetry, verse and prose will fill the air at Elizabeth Fort as Cork writers recite their work to a family audience.

Cork County will host a multicultural arts festival for children in Dromagh, complete with kids’ choirs, cultural traditions and captivating storytelling. A day of culture is on the menu in Ballincollig, where African drumming workshops, creative art and drawing, traditional Irish music and street games from the Polish community will also keep folk entertained.

Over in Kerry, Listowel’s stars in the making can enjoy Suas Leat, You’re On!, theatre, film and music workshops resulting in a real-time performance by the day’s end. Imaginations will be fired up in Killarney with a Build Your Own Beast creative writing workshop that brings creatures to life. Cahirciveen Library will be a hub of multi-sensory fun with a special interactive theatre show designed for children with intellectual disabilities.

It’s ‘lights, camera, action!’ in Limerick as young film aficionados dive into micro screenings, drop-in workshops, talks and exhibitions – with movie-related costume encouraged! The Hunt Museum will also host a hands-on introduction to filmmaking and screen family-friendly movies too.

A trip to Tipperary might see you run away with the circus in Nenagh, as Cirque Rí-Rá showcase their street entertainment, balloon modelling and zany theatre performances in which the audience direct the show! Thurles will be fun-filled too with lively drum sessions, pavement arts, not to mention Lego and robotics workshops too.

The creatively-minded kids of The Déise will give Waterford a piece of art to remember by making a mosaic trail on O’Connell Street. And many talented hands will make light work of the giant pictures that need colouring in on John Roberts Square. Meanwhile in Ardkeen, it’s bedtime for teddy bears at the library… Drop your teddies over for storytime and a sleepover on Friday, then on Saturday discover just what they got up to overnight!
